Mandy Mott has a lifetime of hair dressing, and styling in Taupō, having arrived here in her teens.
She still practices her craft at ManCraft and has her friend Leanda firmly in the sights of a Pink Ribbon fundraiser ‘Big Brave Shave’,
Leanda is not well and in hospital following complications from her third round of chemotherapy.
The two women have been friends for 62 years, born just four days apart in Feilding.
For Mandy, the decision to shave her head was straightforward.
"Mine can grow back, hers won't. She's got chemicals going into her every other week, and radiation's looming up real quick."
The fundraiser has already raised $14,000, closing in on the $20,000 goal.
The Big Brave Shave takes place this Friday, with a Pink Bake Sale running all day and the raffle draw at 2:30pm at Crème Brûlée salon in Taupō.
To enter the raffle, text "shave" to 559 or scan the QR code available in-store at Crème Brûlée or ManCraft Barbers.
