What’s on in the Taupō District

There are 10 trout swimming around Lake Taupō worth $500 each to the angler that finds them.

Celebrating 50 years of the Taupō Fishing Club, the Tagged Trout Treasure Hunt is taking place on Lake Taupō. Ten trout have been tagged north, south, east, west and at the reef.

The treasure hunt runs from December 1 – June 30. Each tagged trout caught earns a $500 cash prize, transferred to a bank account.

Join Taupō Fishing Club to enter ($40 membership), www.taupofishingclub.co.nz. All anglers must hold a current DOC Taupō District Fishing licence. Catch, photograph, and verify tagged trout at Taupō Rod & Tackle within 24 hours. Only rod-and-line fishing is allowed. Follow all DOC Taupō Fishery Regulations. Photos may be used for publicity.
