Variety in evening concert

The Taupō concert band lower brass section.

The Taupō Concert Band will once again assume an evening spot in the midday concert series with several members reinvigorated from attendance at May’s Bay of Plenty Music School.

The band’s Friday, June 13 concert at St Andrew’s Anglican Church will feature a variety of tunes including a nod to midwinter with the atmospheric Huron carol ‘Moon of Winter’ and ‘A Home Alone Christmas’ by movie score maestro John Williams.

Audiences can also expect a number that delivers a wink to it being Friday the 13th as well as a couple of solos from new or young band members, Patrick McCarty, Jess Riley and Rachel Chester.

A couple of medleys from the swing era to more recent artists like Coldplay and Michael Jackson are included to add some spice to the mix.

The $10 entry fee to the concert which starts at 7pm (doors open 6.30pm) includes a light supper.
