Concert to support young musicians
Renata Pazzelli will perform at the house concert.
Talented youth from Taupō and Rotorua provide the performances at ‘Art in the House and Garden’, a June 8 concert raising money to support young classical musicians in the region.
The afternoon concert at the home of Helene Phillips, the chair of Geyser Community Foundation, features pianists, a flutist, saxophonist, as well as a contemporary trio of two guitars and bass.
Flute player Renata Pazelli and guitarist Kaegan Palmer are the Taupō performers playing alongside fellow musicians from Rotorua.
Funds raised at the event contribute to the Michael Pilaar Memorial Music Fund, a Geyser scholarship fund, which supports classical musicians.
Michael was an accomplished young cellist, who died of melanoma at age 19 in 2017. His parents Christian and Elizabeth set up the fund to honour his memory and to assist other young musicians develop their skills.
The $40 entry fee includes afternoon tea, entry into a draw for a luxury hamper and following the concert, attendees are able to enjoy Helene's collection of art and sculpture in her large house and garden at 98a Acacia Heights Drive.
