New roundabouts for Taupō roads

The proposed Tauhara Rd and AC Baths Ave roundabout.
The Taupō District Council is planning four new roundabouts at key trouble spots in Taupō over the next few years.
A roundabout is planned for the intersection of Taharepa and Crown Rd, near Tauhara Shops and additional parking at Tauhara Shops.
The long term plan includes $763,000 for that roundabout project, with the bulk of the budget in the 2026/27 financial year.
A second roundabout will be installed at the corner of Tauhara Rd and AC Baths Ave, with same time frame, at a cost of $1.6 million.
Next on the list is the intersection of Rifle Range Rd and Mere St which is currently an awkward dogleg, requiring straight through traffic on Rifle Range Rd traffic to give way, before turning right and left.
The proposed Taharepa and Crown Rd roundabout.
The timeframe for that project is as late as 2029 for completion at a cost of $3 million.
Also on the list is the intersection of Napier Rd and Lake Terrace. A roundabout is scheduled to be installed there in the 2032/33 financial year at a cost to the coucnil of $2.6 million.
