Fit and fearless on the world stage

Taupō athletes have made their mark on the world stage, with four local competitors achieving outstanding results at the inaugural Deadly Dozen World Championships at Crystal Palace, London, England over September 5–6. 

Tom King and Sally Harrison from Flex Fitness Taupō claimed 1st place in their 40–45 mixed doubles age group, producing a standout performance against competitors from around the world. 

Adding to Taupō’s success, Jane Anderson and Viv Brown, representing Empower Fitness Taupō, secured an impressive 2nd place in the 65–69 female pairs age group. 

The Deadly Dozen World Championships brings about 3000 athletes from 32 countries to the National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace for two days of intense fitness racing. The event combines twelve 400-metre runs with 12 demanding exercise stations, testing strength, endurance and mental toughness.
