April 11: The Garden Exchange and Community Secondhand & Car Boot Marketplace will launch its first event on Saturday, April 11, from 10am-2pm at the Timebank Community Gardens. It will then be on the last Saturday of each month thereafter. The event is based on a vision of creating a regular community space that encourages reuse, sharing, and practical sustainability. The Garden Exchange will focus on swapping produce, connecting people with what is happening at the gardens, and introducing visitors to workshops and the Timebank Hour Exchange, which will also be launched at the first event on April 11. Alongside this, the Community Secondhand & Car Boot Market will focus exclusively on secondhand, upcycled, and recycled goods. The idea is to create a space for quality pre-loved items, revived treasures, fashionable must-haves and practical reuse, rather than competing with the more artisan-style Sunday market.
