All roads lead to Taupō

After three years on the road, the New Zealand Highwaymen are concluding their 2025 tour in Taupō.

The legendary New Zealand Highwaymen – comprising Brendan Dugan, Gray Bartlett, Frankie Stevens, and Dennis Marsh – are set to perform their 57th and final show of their 2025 tour.

The matinee performance will take place on Sunday, July 6, at 2.30pm at the Great Lake Centre in Taupō, as part of the Taupō Winter Festival.

The quartet have become synonymous with New Zealand's music scene, with wholesome entertainment, engaging banter, and a repertoire that encourages the audience to sing along.

Brendan Dugan reflected on the journey.

“It’s been an uplifting and great experience to see the smiling faces and memories created on tour in the last three years. We have toured in the winter months and it’s great to be finishing at the Taupō Winter Festival.”

The New Zealand Highwaymen have consistently delivered a high-quality show, as highlighted by a recent review in the Otago Daily Times: "These best of friends are completely at home on the stage and have each had successful solo careers. None of them have lost the shine on their performance technique."

The review also praised their "smooth as ever" act, "steady and rich" voices, and "slick cohesion" of instrumental work.

Their diverse setlist spans classics from Johnny Cash and Sting's Fields of Gold to country anthems like Good Hearted Woman and iconic New Zealand tunes such as We’ll Have a Māori Hangi Tonight.

The show is celebrated for its genuine warmth, engaging jokes, and the palpable joy the performers share with their audience.

The final performance promises to be a celebration of New Zealand music and camaraderie.
