Trewavas family to hold private funeral

Former Taupō District Mayor David Trewavas.

The funeral for former mayor David Trewavas will be a “private celebration” with a larger memorial service possible at a later date.

In a post on social media the Taupō District Council thanked people for their “kind wishes and expressions of sympathy following the unexpected death of former Taupō District Mayor David Trewavas.

“David’s family have advised that they plan to hold a private celebration of David’s life with just his family and close friends in attendance.

“They may decide later to hold a memorial service to honour David and his service to the Taupō District. Whatever the family’s decision, Council will continue to follow the family’s wishes.”

If people have messages they would like to pass on to David's family, there are condolence books for signing available at the Taupō and Tūrangi Customer and Visitor Information Centres
