‘Rock royalty’ hits Taupō

The Taupō Summer Concert is here, with Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, Hoodoo Gurus and Zed in town this weekend. The concert is at Taupō Amphitheatre on Saturday, January 24, and tickets are still available. Greenstone Entertainment CEO Amanda Calvert says Iggy Pop and Joan Jett “are quite simply pure rock royalty” and they are thrilled to welcome them back to Aotearoa.

The Taupō Scottish Country Dance group is gearing up for action.

January 31: Monster Garage Sale – Tūrangi.

The friends of Kuratau School Fundraising Group are hosting a monster garage sale, from 9am-1pm at the Church of the Cross in the Tūrangi town centre. A wide variety of items will be available including furniture, paintings, stock saddle, fishing gear, scooters, kids’ bikes, a vintage foosball table, music items, arts and craft items, tools, freezer and much more. There will also be a home baking table offering delicious treats to purchase. All funds raised go directly back into resources for Kuratau School students, supporting learning, wellbeing and participation in a range of opportunities. While schools receive operational funding from the government, fundraising events such as this- along with others like our annual bike day and the Kuratau horse trek are vital. Over the years these efforts have enabled the school to purchase items that would otherwise be out of reach including a class set of chrome books, new playground equipment, ongoing maintenance of Board-owned assets, such as the school hall, additional classroom resources and most recently, new sports uniforms for students. The Friends of Kuratau School warmly invite the community to come along, grab a bargain and support local tamariki by making a real difference to our school. Our next fundraiser is the Kuratau School Horse Trek which is on February 20-22. Please email kurataufundraising@gmail.com for more info
