TechWeek 2026 kicks off next week in Taupō and Tūrangi, so if you’ve been thinking about getting along to one of the events, now’s the time to book it in.

Events start on Monday with Ten Online Marketing Essentials, running in both Taupō and Tūrangi. This session covers the core building blocks of getting your business seen and working better online, without the jargon.

On Tuesday, Taupō Business Chamber is hosting Canva Made Easy, a hands-on workshop to help you confidently create your own social posts, flyers and branded content, even if you’ve never used design tools before.

Wednesday has us hearing about The Future of Tech in Taupō, a panel discussion facilitated by Deloitte. Local voices will share what’s changing in the tech space, what’s emerging and what it means for businesses in our region.

We wrap the week on Thursday with Unlock the Power of LinkedIn for Business, focused on using LinkedIn more intentionally to build your network, strengthen credibility and open up real opportunities.

Classic car show

**The Alpine Vintage & Classic Auto Show takes place on May 31.**

This year’s Alpine Vintage & Classic Auto Show will take place on May 31 (King's Birthday weekend) at National Park School in Waimarino.

There is a $2 gold coin donation for spectators, Sky Waka raffles, coffee & cake, barbecue station and other stalls.

A hearty thanks goes out to our nearly 100 entries and volunteer participants from last year’s event which made for just another great day at the school grounds with this year looking to be even bigger and better!

Gates open at 9am for all vehicle entries and participants, judging takes place from 11am-12.30pm, followed by People’s Choice Best of Show awards. Then vehicles and people will gather for the Ruapehu Mountain Run.

Those wishing to enter their vehicle or vehicles (pre-2000 models only) may request a no-fee entry application via email at autoshow.at.the.park@gmail.com, by May 29.

Host a pink breakfast in May

Taupō locals are being invited to gather with friends, family and colleagues this May to host or attend a Pink Ribbon Breakfast to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

Pink Ribbon Breakfast Day is 21 May, but events can be held any time throughout the month. Once registered, people will be sent a free host kit with ideas and resources to get them started.

May 24: Taupo Choral presents Autumnal Tones. Featuring Taupo Choral singers and guest musicians Just for Fun - a highly skilled, harmonious, local trio of singers and ukulele players. This concert has beautiful atmospheric tones reminding us of hope with a collection of songs honouring peace and harmony. Held at St. Andrew’s Church, Titiruapenga Street on Sunday May 24 at 3pm. Tickets: Adults $20, with under 18 free.

May 30-June 1: Taupō Art Connection Taupō Art Trail, 10am-4pm each day, 26 artists. Visit taupoartconnection.co.nz for more details.

June 5: Midday Concert, 5.30-6.30pm. Acclaimed Irish composer and master guitarist Dave Flynn returns to Aotearoa in 2026 with a new show, Flynn’s Celtic Strings. He is joined by Wellington-based fiddle player/vocalist Em Griffiths and Kawerau mandolin player/vocalist Lee Corbett Barton for a concert of Celtic songs, tunes and tales. This concert is supported by Taupō District Council from the Creative Communities Fund. Koha is appreciated.

Regular events

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 10am-2pm: Become a Member at Active Arts Taupō. Love painting, pottery or mixed media? Join our vibrant creative community at 5 Redoubt Road. Connect, create and grow alongside local artists.

Every Sunday: If you love to sing, have free time to take part in weekday concerts and can stay on your feet for a 30-minute performance, the AA65 choir would love you to join our group. We practise at 4pm every Sunday at Rotary House and sing at different venues every second month.

Now until June 30: The Tagged Trout Treasure Hunt involves 10 tagged trout released north, south, east, west and at the reef with each one caught earning a $500 cash prize. The Ukulele Strummers meet on the first Sunday of each month and singers welcome too. Join us for a fun time with music from the 60's, 70's, 80's. All welcome.
