Mixing beauty with business

Taupō has the beauty, now it needs the business.

Destination Great Lake Taupō and local company DestinateNZ want to boost the Taupō District’s profile as a place to hold business events.

The two organisations have combined resources to help showcase the region's business events offerings.

DestinateNZ director Michelle Caldwell says the aim is to position Taupō as a premier destination for business events, leveraging the district’s already-strong reputation with domestic and Australian leisure travellers.

"Taupō offers an extraordinary blend of natural beauty, adventure activities, and sophisticated venues that create unforgettable business events."

DGLT general manager Patrick Dault says many are unaware of the district’s capacity to host world-class business events and incentive trips (often offered as rewards to employees or customers).

“Our partnership with Michelle and DestinateNZ will help us showcase this lesser-known side of our destination."

Lisa Hopkins, CEO of Business Events Industry Aotearoa says 70% of pre-registered attendees to MEETINGS – the country’s largest business events trade show - had expressed interest in hosting events in regional New Zealand, including Taupō.

"Taupō has enormous potential in the business events space, and I'm thrilled to see this collaborative approach to showcasing the region’s offerings."
